
I have here zoomed in to a small area of the image at it's original
resolution and at the interpolated resolution. As you can see the interpolated
version is, not surprisingly, very soft:-

Doing the same with Genuine Fractals produced a very different result:-

The fractally compressed and re-rendered image is almost as soft as the interpolated version, but there is no evidence whatsoever of the original pixellation. It is worth pointing out though, that whilst the interpolation took just a few seconds, rendering the fractal image took over an hour on my 166 MHz Pentium, far longer than the higher resolution images.
